Tempus Fujit

I haven't been near the water lately, despite joining up with the club that‘s provided what instruction I’ve done up to now. A two week holiday has rather got in the way. I knew that with the holiday coming up anything I did in a kayak would probably be wasted with an enforced lay off so I haven‘t really put myself out to get back on the water. What’s also got in the way is the heavy rain that caused last month’s high rates of flow on the Thames. I haven’t really felt confident enough to go out by myself in anything but the calmest of conditions. Unfortunately the rain has persisted in spades while I’ve been away and there are still red warnings this week on my home stretch of the river, so any paddling I wanted to do has rather gone on the back burner for the time being.

Instead I’ve concentrated on the jogging side of things to try to get back to some semblance of fitness. Unfortunately the holiday hasn't done anything for the weight problem either, as it has flared back to the former 14.5 stone and so that’s back to where I began two months ago. I came back with a runny nose (my nose runs faster than I do*) I was able to do three runs of two miles which gave me a fairly accurate figure of 12 minute mileing. Which is abysmal!

I went out for a jog yesterday and managed about three miles with stops after two. Running time was just under 36 minutes, which doesn’t include the walking stops, and more or less confirms the 12 minute miles.

So it’s back to square one.
