More Swim

Mrs D and I returned to the water at our local sports centre again on Wednesday evening. According to the overblown timetable, term time at 7pm should have been the waterobics or some such class, but, apparently no teachers to take the class means its temporary abandonment. Instead, the pool was completely deserted and for the first quarter hour, we had the place to ourselves. Still, it was a pleasure breaking a glass smooth surface and threshing my way down the centre lane leaving a vee shaped bow wave, while Mrs D ploughed a more sedate furrow behind. (sorry about the mixed metaphors but I‘m feeling a bit poetical).

I’m still an absolutely useless swimmer, needing to take breath between each length. Although I did put in about twelve lengths on Wednesday Mrs D still outstrips my total by at least 50%. Something new is a sharp pain in the left elbow which feels like a torn muscle when pulling through on the breast stroke, and which continues to annoy even when I’ve stopped.

Perhaps it’ll come together one day.
